Speeding Tickets & Points Reduction
Speeding tickets can have serious consequences, but it can be difficult to know how a speeding ticket will affect your driver’s license and your life until you have spoken with an experienced attorney. The impact of a speeding ticket, particularly for individuals holding a commercial driver’s license and young adults under the age of 21, can be severe and will depend on the nature of the offense, including how fast you were going and where you were pulled over, as well as your driving history. License suspension is a real-time risk.
At the Teiger Law Center, P.C., defense lawyer Tracy Teiger uses years of experience to represent people who have received speeding tickets in Georgia. Our focus is on points reduction — keeping our clients’ driver’s licenses free of the points that can drive up insurance costs and keep them off the road — and preventing license suspensions.
We focus on:
- Reduction of the number of points on your license
- No report by the court to the Georgia Department of Driver Services
- No increased insurance rates
- Reduction of fines and court costs
- Reduction of the allegations against you
About The Georgia Department Of Driver Services Point System
The Georgia Point System penalizes drivers by adding two to six points to their licenses depending on the nature of the offense. A driver with 15 points in a 24-month period will have his or her driver’s license suspended. For youthful offenders, the number of points that can result in a license suspension is only four points in 12 months.
It may be possible to obtain a points reduction and save your license, and at the Teiger Law Center, P.C., we can help. We may be able to negotiate with prosecutors to have the points on your license reduced. We also do everything possible within the scope of the law so that Georgia courts will see you in the best light. You may be able to take a driver improvement class (also called defensive driving and for youthful offenders, a L.E.A.D.E.R. class) or complete other actions to protect your license and your right to drive.
