Was Your Son Or Daughter Charged With A Juvenile Driver Offense? We Can Step In And Help.

Young drivers often feel targeted by police. They get pulled over while other drivers who are engaging in the same actions go free. If you believe that you or your son or daughter has been targeted by the Georgia police — if you are a young driver who has received a traffic ticket — the best way to protect your rights is to work with an experienced lawyer.

We Are Here To Protect Your Son Or Daughter’s Future

At our Atlanta-area law firm, the Teiger Law Center, P.C., attorney Tracy Teiger uses 30 years of experience to represent people accused of criminal traffic offenses in the Atlanta metro area and north Georgia.

If you are under 21, you could face greater consequences than older drivers if you are convicted of a traffic offense. In fact, there are many offenses that will result in automatic suspension of your driver’s license for six months, including:

  • Reckless driving
  • Eluding a police officer
  • DUI or even just purchasing an alcoholic beverage
  • Speeding tickets/speeding in excess of the speed limit by 24 miles per hour or more
  • Driving without a license
  • Hit-and-run or leaving the scene of an accident in violation
  • Racing on highways or streets
  • Unlawful passing of a school bus
  • Improper passing on a hill or curve
  • Other serious traffic offenses

Prosecutors often try to offer “special deals” to youthful offenders. They offer to reduce the seriousness of the charges and the points assessed in exchange for a guilty plea. If you are representing yourself, this might seem like a victory. However, it isn’t really. Your license could still be at risk.

Even if you don’t have points assessed against your driver’s license, the Georgia Department of Driver Services may still treat your case as if the full number of points had been assessed. The result? Six months’ suspension of your driver’s license — even though you plead guilty to a lesser offense, or plead nolo contendere. If you are under 18, the accumulation of four points in 12 months also results in a six-month license suspension.

If you have been charged with a traffic offense and are under age 21, the prospect of license suspension is vastly greater than for an older driver. To protect yourself, you need the effective assistance of counsel.
