Police get creative to prosecute traffic offenses

| Aug 19, 2020 | Traffic Violations |

Georgia residents have experienced a lot of changes in the past few months. It was difficult to adjust to widespread closures, and suddenly, mundane tasks like returning library books or fighting a ticket for traffic offenses have become difficult. Law enforcement is learning some new tricks, and drivers may want to be prepared to face unusual circumstances.

Recently, one Georgia municipality has confirmed that drive-thru traffic court will be a reality in the very near future. Historically, a driver could prepare to fight a ticket in a courtroom and calmly deliver a solid defense. The idea of facing the legal system through a car window may feel like an alien concept.

Drivers may worry that fighting a ticket will now be confusing or inconvenient. Unfortunately, simply paying a ticket for traffic offenses just to resolve the matter can have negative consequences for a driver. Pleading guilty to a traffic offense by paying a ticket can result in fines, points on a driving record, and even suspension or revocation of driving privileges.

The judicial process may look a bit different in the near future, but the law remains unchanged. Drivers may want to consider asking an experienced attorney to help. An attorney can help a client navigate the court process and resolve tickets for traffic offenses in an efficient and professional manner. A client does not need to feel nervous about fighting a ticket, and the burden of proof falls squarely upon the prosecution. Times are changing, and an attorney can help a client resolve legal issues with confidence.
