Three men have been arrested in Georgia after authorities say they were led on a high-speed chase. The driver and his two passengers were charged with marijuana possession. Also, the driver was accused of several traffic violations.
Authorities claim that they attempted to pull over the vehicle around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 17 for speeding and failing to maintain its lane. However, instead of stopping, the driver supposedly pulled onto the highway and continued driving. Police then say that they were able to stop the vehicle by using spike strips and that the two of the vehicle occupants attempted to flee on foot after the car crashed into a telephone pole.
During a search of the vehicle, police say that they found a handgun, less than an ounce of marijuana and an unspecified amount of synthetic marijuana. All three individuals have been charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and the two passengers have been charged with possession of synthetic marijuana. The driver was also charged with reckless driving, speeding, felony fleeing, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving with a suspended license and driving without proof of insurance, as well as other charges.
Some individuals may assume that a situation is worse than it really is because of the presence of marijuana. Seeking the help of a savvy attorney can be beneficial to defendants, like these, in Georgia who have been accused of marijuana possession or other drug-related charges. An attorney can help an accused individual build the strongest possible defense by ensuring that all potentially helpful details are used to their fullest potential.
