Georgia car accident claims life of teen

| Nov 4, 2015 | Car Accidents |

When parents lose a child in a motor vehicle accident, they likely face a torrent of uncertainty. One family in Georgia may be considering how to handle their current situation after a recent car accident resulted in the death of an 18-year-old boy. Reportedly, the boy was a passenger in a pickup truck that crashed.

The pickup truck was apparently traveling south on Georgia Hwy 116 around midnight when the accident took place. Reported details on the crash were few, but it was noted that the truck was the only vehicle involved. Authorities believe that speed was likely a factor in the accident. The driver and two passengers in the truck were reportedly not wearing seat belts when the crash occurred.

The incident resulted in all three occupants of the pickup suffering injuries. One individual was treated and released from the hospital, and one other was still hospitalized at the time of the report. The boy who ultimately died underwent multiple surgeries for his injuries. Sadly, he succumbed to them.

Because the Georgia car accident resulted in the death of a passenger, the deceased victim’s family may wish to consider exploring their legal options. Filing a wrongful death claim against the driver considered at fault could allow them to seek compensation for funeral expenses and other damages resulting from the fatal incident. If another individual maintains an ownership interest in the vehicle involved in the tragedy, he or she may also be named as a defendant in any civil litigation stemming from the crash. Information on such claims could help them determine whether this is a step they would like to take.
