Woman dies after van is hit by a drunk driver in Georgia

In many cases of drunk driving accidents, innocent individuals are often the ones left with serious or fatal injuries. These individuals may have been simply driving to their destination when they were hit by a vehicle operated by a drunk driver, and a serious accident ensued. In such cases, individuals who have been seriously injured or families of victims who have died may want to pursue legal action.

Such action may result from a recent car accident that occurred in Georgia. It was reported that a 25-year-old woman was driving a pickup truck behind a van when she attempted to pass the van. However, due to approaching traffic, the woman attempted to move back into the correct lane. She was unable to successfully do so, and as a result, the truck hit the side of the van, causing both vehicles to end up in a ditch.

The driver of the van was ejected from the vehicle, and she suffered fatal injuries. A passenger in the van was trapped and later freed by rescue personnel. That individual was transported from the scene by ambulance and was subsequently treated and released. It was unclear whether the driver of the truck was injured, but she was taken into custody on charges of DUI.

Because an individual died after being hit by a drunk driver, the family of the victim may wish to explore their legal choices. Gathering information on how to file a wrongful death claim in Georgia may help the interested parties determine whether such a step may be right for them. A successful civil case could allow them to receive compensation for funeral costs and other monetary damages resulting from the crash.
