Georgia truck accident leaves family seriously injured

When a driver gets out of his or her vehicle to make sure that it is operating properly, it is important that the parking brake is being used. If a vehicle is not properly braked, there could be a chance that the vehicle could roll out of control and cause an accident. If the out-of-control vehicle is a semi-truck, the situation could be devastating. A truck accident can cause considerable damage, and individuals could suffer severe injuries.

It was recently reported that an accident in Georgia took place due to a semi-truck driver failing to put on the parking brake after exiting the truck. The driver had stopped to check his load before proceeding to his destination, but while conducting the check, the truck began to roll away. As a result, the semi-truck collided with a pickup truck that was on a nearby roadway.

The pickup truck had four occupants at the time of the accident. The driver and two child passengers suffered serious injuries, but they were considered to be in stable condition. A female passenger in the pickup suffered fatal injuries, and she was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was suspected of being under the influence at the time of the event, and as a result of the situation, he is facing charges for DUI, involuntary manslaughter, vehicular homicide and another allegation.

The individuals in the pickup truck involved in this Georgia truck accident were a family. The woman's husband and children are likely devastated over the loss of their wife and mother. Because this accident resulted in a death and serious injuries, the family may wish to file civil claims against the driver considered at fault in order to seek compensation for damages resulting from the incident.
