Fatal accident results after Georgia pedestrian hit

Pedestrian accidents are always unfortunate situations for anyone who may be involved. Individuals can easily become seriously injured, and it is not unlikely for such an event to be a fatal accident. If a family loses a loved one in such a manner, they may wish to file a wrongful death claim if they feel it suits the situation.

It was recently reported that an accident in Georgia involving a pedestrian proved fatal. Authorities were reportedly alerted to a pedestrian accident, though the driver did not remain on the scene. Reports stated that the pedestrian was walking along a roadway when he was hit by an SUV. Though the driver left the scene, evidence was used to locate the vehicle and driver. The driver reportedly thought that he had struck a deer, not a person.

The situation resulted in the pedestrian suffering fatal injuries. He was reported as being 38 years old. Authorities are asking any individuals who may have information about the incident to report what they may know. It was not reported whether any charges may result, but an investigation is ongoing.

Because the accident resulted in a fatality, it is possible that legal action may result. If the family wishes to pursue legal action, they may wish to consider filing a wrongful death claim. This type of claim could assist them in pursuing compensation for damages resulting from the fatal accident. These damages may include funeral expenses, emotional losses, and other damages that may be allowable under Georgia law.
