Driving under the influence is an action that many individuals will avoid throughout their lives. However, there are also many who make the wrong decision to get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol. As a result, an accident caused by a drunk driver is not as uncommon as many people would hope. Such an accident could happen to anyone, and individuals who are involved could be seriously injured.
It was recently reported that an accident in Georgia involving three vehicles was the result of impaired driving. The situation began when a driver failed to stop at a red light and collided with another vehicle that was traveling through an intersection. The first vehicle continued traveling and hit a third vehicle. The second vehicle began to spin, and two young boys were ejected.
One of the children required reconstructive surgery on his face and was still recovering in the hospital at the time of the report. Another child suffered a broken arm, and a third child suffered lacerations. Two adults from that vehicle had injuries to their heads, which caused concussions. Authorities believe that the driver of the first vehicle was under the influence when the crash took place, and he is currently facing a charge for DUI. Additional charges could also result.
Being involved in an accident caused by a drunk driver can cause many individuals to be thankful to be alive. However, they may still face significant difficulties due to injuries and other outcomes of such an incident. Therefore, filing a personal injury claim against the driver considered at fault could allow injured parties to pursue compensation for damages permissible under Georgia law.
