Fatal car crash results in death of Georgia man

The circumstances under which an accident takes place play a vital role in whether charges will be filed. If a fatal car crash occurs, authorities will examine all of the evidence, and, if they deem it appropriate, a driver could have allegations leveled against him or her. Additional legal action could also stem from a fatal accident if the loved ones of a victim wish to file a wrongful death claim.

A recent accident in Georgia could lead to a civil claim after a passenger was killed. Reports stated that a vehicle was traveling on the interstate when it suddenly veered off the road and collided with a semi truck that was stopped on the side of the road. One officer stated that the impact caused the vehicle to peel apart and described the incident as "horrific."

A 27-year-old passenger in the vehicle suffered fatal injuries upon impact with the semi truck. The 23-year-old driver was transported from the scene, but his condition was not noted in the report. Authorities also found marijuana and alcohol inside the vehicle, which could have played a role in the crash. It is unclear whether the driver will be charged.

The family members of the victim who was killed in the fatal car crash may wish to determine whether they would like to follow through with legal action of their own. Because they lost a loved one in the Georgia accident, they may be able to file a wrongful death claim against the driver or drivers deemed negligent. This claim could help them seek compensation for their loss and related damages.
