Suffering serious injuries is a negative situation for anyone to have to face. Medical bills can accumulate, pain will likely be experienced and a person’s life can be substantially affected. If the person has been injured due to the actions of a drunk driver, there may be additional reasons to file a personal injury claim against the driver considered responsible.
A man in Georgia was seriously injured recently after being struck by a driver who was apparently drunk. It was reported that the injured party was a police officer and had been working on traffic operations when he was hit by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was a 63-year-old male, and he was apparently driving a commercial vehicle. Additional details on how the accident took place were not reported.
The officer was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. Authorities believe that the driver of the vehicle was under the influence at the time of the accident, and he was taken into custody for DUI. Tests are currently being administered on a blood sample to confirm suspicions. An investigation into the incident is currently open.
Being injured by a drunk driver is a situation in which no one wants to be the victim. Regrettably, accidents caused by drinking and driving take place far too often, and innocent individuals are often left injured and suffering. If the individual injured in the Georgia incident wishes to do so, filing a personal injury claim against the driver considered at fault could potentially help him seek compensation for medical bills and other damages resulting from the incident.
