Fatal car crash claims life of Georgia teen

Single-vehicle accidents can be just as deadly as other types of accidents. Though these events do not involve other vehicles, there can be several different reasons behind such a crash occurring. If driver is under the influence, that impairment can play a significant role in a fatal car crash, and criminal charges could result. In addition to such charges, civil claims could also be filed.

Alcohol is considered to have been a factor in a recent accident in Georgia. It was reported that a vehicle was traveling the roadway when the driver apparently lost control. As a result, the vehicle left the road and traveled into the yard of a residence. The vehicle struck a parked car and a tree after entering the yard.

A passenger that was in the backseat of the vehicle suffered fatal injuries. It was reported that he was 19 years old. The 22-year-old driver suffered injuries to his arm, and the 23-year-old front seat passenger was seriously injured. Both of those individuals were transported from the scene. The driver of the car is currently facing several charges including vehicular homicide, DUI, reckless driving and others.

If the decedent's loved ones wish to pursue a civil case, filing a wrongful death claim against the driver considered responsible for the fatal car crash may be a viable option. Such a claim could help them work toward financial compensation for damages permitted under Georgia law. If the driver is convicted of the charges leveled against him, the family of the deceased victim may be able to utilize that outcome as evidence.
