Serious injuries a result of a recent Georgia truck accident

| Jan 22, 2015 | Truck Accidents |

There are numerous reasons why an accident with a big rig may occur. In many cases, the driver is distracted or has fallen asleep due to the long hours that he or she was trying to get in. In other cases, it may be due to safety issues. Sometimes, the truck driver is simply not paying close enough attention and performs a traffic violation that results in serious injuries.

A two-vehicle accident that recently occurred here in Georgia sadly sent five young children to the hospital along with others. The five children were all in a Dodge Caravan. A big rig struck the Caravan when it turned directly into the path of the van. The driver of the international truck was not injured, but the same cannot be said for the driver of the van.

The elderly woman driving the van, a 64-year-old, was critically injured. Rescue crews had to extricate her from the van. One of the children was thrown from the van and was listed in critical condition The other four did not receive life-threatening injuries. There was another passenger in the van who received minor injuries.

Regardless of the reason for this Georgia accident, if serious injuries resulted, the injured victim may be able to pursue a personal injury claim. The route that can be taken in a personal injury or wrongful death suit after a truck accident will vary, depending on the circumstances of each situation. In the case that the driver is actually an employee of a trucking company, it may be possible to hold the trucking company responsible for its role in the accident.
