A recent car accident in Georgia took a fatal turn when one person died as a result of the collision. The wreck occurred just prior to 9 p.m. on a recent Sunday and the driver who is believed to have caused the accident is also believed to be a drunk driver. The accident occurred at an intersection in southeast Georgia.
Apparently, the accident involved an SUV, a sedan and a pickup truck. The SUV and sedan had been traveling northbound before they came to a stop at an intersection. Unfortunately, the black truck that was traveling behind them did not stop. Instead, the truck reportedly struck the sedan and SUV from behind.
An occupant of the SUV died as a result of the injuries he or she sustained in the accident. At this time, it is unclear whether there were any other injuries that resulted from this accident. The driver of the truck was arrested by local authorities for DUI. However, the accident is still under investigation.
While the auto accident in Georgia is still under investigation by local authorities and possibly even an accident reconstruction team, the family members of the deceased may be wondering if there are any legal steps that they can take to hold the alleged drunk driver accountable for his or her actions. As soon as the investigation concludes, the information from the report can be used to help determine whether the victim’s family has enough evidence to support a wrongful death claim. A successfully litigated claim may help the victim’s family obtain financial compensation for funeral expenses, lost wages and other associated damages.
