Couple dies in fatal crash in Georigia, possible wrongful death

Alcohol and driving can be a dangerous combination. People that drink and drive significantly increase their chances of being involved in a vehicle accident. This can result in injury or even death in many instances. Unfortunately, this is what happened in a recent fatal accident in Georgia which could ultimately lead to a wrongful death lawsuit.

The incident happened just shortly following 8:30 p.m. when a couple was driving southbound on the Interstate. At the same time, a 50-year-old man was also driving on the road. His vehicle ended up crashing into the vehicle occupied by the couple, resulting in the death of both the husband and the wife. The man is now facing criminal charges for driving under the influence as well as operating a vehicle with an open alcoholic beverage container.

Other criminal charges the man will face include possession of marijuana, first degree homicide with a motor vehicle and various traffic citations. The couple’s car rolled down an embankment and eventually halted at a tree line. The husband was 52 years old and the wife was 50. A memorial service has been scheduled at a local church location.

Memorial services and other end of life expenses are not cheap and can be a significant financial hardship for the family of the victims. They have the right to consider initiating a wrongful death lawsuit in a civil court in Georgia. A properly presented claim could lead to a monetary judgment to assist the family with the damages sustained from  the tragic loss of life. Although this undo what has already occurred, it can help with paying for funeral costs and other financial losses related to the tragedy.
